Lesson 2 |
SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ and it’s the process of getting traffic from the ‘free’, ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ listings on the search engines. As you may already aware, all major search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo will rank web pages based on what the search engine considers most relevant to the users. Therefore, SEO plays an important role in structuring a web page so that it is found, read and indexed by search engines in the most effective way possible. |

Why SEO should be important to you?
Some of the issues have been discussed in my earlier post ‘Why do we need SEO‘. Literally, companies spend thousands of dollars in building a fantastic website but when someone is searching for a particular product/service in that town or country the major search engine such as Google will just show someone else website.
Typical example:
Let’s ask Google to look for ‘Malaysia National Car’, ‘Malaysia car’, ‘Malaysia Car Maker’ … without typing the word Proton. Can someone find out if Proton website ever appears on the first result page(SERP)? Now let’s try ‘Malaysia Budget Airlines’. Can you see the different?
For many people, the SEO task can be daunting, but Without proper SEO, your site could appear on page 100 of Google’s results and getting no visitors.
